広島の夏。。

　先週末、平和大通りを車で走っていると　白い夾竹桃のお花が木によってはすでにたくさん咲いているのを見かけました。
　「夾竹桃」は、原爆で被災した広島市で、原爆により７０年間草木も生えないといわれてたところに　いち早く咲いた花として知られています。広島市民に復興への希望と光を与えてくれたお花ということ、原爆犠牲者への慰霊の意もこめて昭和４８年に広島市の花に選定されました。
　日差しの強い広島平和記念日の時期に赤、ピンク、白と鮮やかに咲く夾竹桃。
　昨年も　「早くから咲いてるな～」と思ったのを思い出しますが、今年もなんとなくまた早いような。。これは、近所で街路樹として咲いていた赤い夾竹桃。。４部咲きです。

Summer of Hiroshima coming

Last weekend I found common oleander blooming at Heiwa Oodoori(the road near Hiroshima Peace park). After the atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima in 1945, people said we would not have any flowers or plants for next 70years. But this flower(common oleander) bloomed first and they gave citizens big hopes. So common oleander was selected as a flower of Hiroshima in 1973 to comfort the spirit of atomic bomb victims in Hiroshima.
Every summer common oleander tell us 'Don't forget August6'.　Red, pink, and white common oleander are in full bloom around peace memorial day(August 6) .
