馬酔木（あせび）

　かわいらしい薄ピンク色のアセビが咲いていました。かわいい鈴のようなお花です。毒性があるので、馬が食べると酔って足がなえることから「あしじひ」と呼ばれ、しだいに「あしび」そして「あせび」となったことから　馬酔木と書くそうです。つつじ科の植物です。
万葉集にも歌われています。
　　「池水に　影さへ見えて　咲きにほう　馬酔木の花を　袖に扱入（こき）れな」　　大伴家持

Pieris japonica

I found pieris on the way home the other day. Those flowers look like group of the bells.

The name 「Pieris」 is named after the venus in Greek mythology. This flower is a bit poisonous, so in Japan we say even horses become numb if they eat them. So be careful!!
